New range: Cornwall Rediscovered

Cornwall Rediscovered range

Over the last year I have been researching the work of a previous generation of print makers working in Cornwall, or featuring images of Cornwall. This has led to the 'Cornwall Rediscovered' collection of cards and prints, which seek to shine a new light on the work of these talented artists and printmakers.

It has been a fascinating process, not only seeing Cornwall anew through their eyes but also learning a bit about their lives.

To start with, the Cornwall Rediscovered collection includes work by J. T. Blight (1835 - 1911) and Josiah Wood Whymper (1813 - 1903). We will add a few notes shortly for those who would like to find out more about their lives and work.

As a printmaker developing my own practice in Cornwall, it has been an inspiration to learn about a previous generation of printmakers exploring the sights of Cornwall. It has got me thinking about what these artists and printmakers would be seeking to capture if they work working today. What are the sights that will captivate people in the next 100 years?

You can find the Cornwall Rediscovered collection on my stall at Sennen Market on Tuesday mornings and then at the FLAME pop-up market at Lands End on Tuesday afternoons and all day Wednesday*.

Do pop by, it'd be lovely to get your reactions to these images of a bygone Cornwall.

*The last FLAME pop-up market at Lands End was in October 2017. You can still find Jane at Sennen Market on a Tuesday morning. The FLAME Makers will also make a seasonal reappearance at the Acorn Arts Centre in Penzance on Saturday 18th November 10 am - 4 pm.
